I. Introduction

During the processing in the steel industry, a large amount of heat is released, and the cooling system plays a crucial role in this process. To ensure the smooth progress of production, a large quantity of cooling water needs to be circulated to carry away this heat and maintain the normal operating temperature of the equipment. However, various problems are prone to occur when the cooling water is recycled. For example, impurities in the water will gradually accumulate in the pipelines and form dirt, and the warm and humid environment also easily breeds microorganisms such as algae. Once these dirt and algae accumulate in large quantities, it is as if the “blood vessels” of the cooling system – the pipelines – are blocked, which will significantly reduce the cooling efficiency and then affect the stable operation of the entire production line. Equipment will also face a higher risk of wear and tear due to poor cooling, and frequent maintenance will become inevitable, which will undoubtedly bring about high costs and the loss of precious production time.
